I've been using qBittorrent from AM for a couple of months but since yesterday it no longer starts.

So I tried starting it in the terminal and got:

qbittorrent
/usr/local/bin/qbittorrent: line 1: -----BEGIN: command not found

"Not found???" So then I tried:

am -a qbittorrent
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 PACKAGE: qbittorrent
 STATUS: installed

 Disk usage: 1 MB
 Installed version: 5.0.4

 qBittorrent - A powerful QT-based Bittorrent Client.

This is the OFFICIAL AppImage supported!

 SITE: https://www.qbittorrent.org
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hmmm, still installed. Wait, disk usage 1MB??" So then I tried:

am -f

"36KiB??!?!"

In my file manager, I went to /opt/qbittorrent/: total folder size: 7.1KiB!
Contents:

.am-installer - folder - 30/12/24
icons - folder - 30/12/24
AM-update - 1.2 KiB - shell script - 30/12/24
qbittorrent - 849 bytes - Detached OpenPGP signature - Tuesday
remove - 174 bytes - shell script - 30/12/24
version - 137 bytes - Plaint text document - Wednesday

No AppImage!

So far, other AM apps working fine.

got it, the download reference is changed

ivan@debian:~$ curl -Ls https://sourceforge.net/p/qbittorrent/activity/feed | grep -Eo "(http|https)://[a-zA-Z0-9./?=_%:-]*" | grep -i "appimage" | grep -v '%' | head -1
https://sourceforge.net/projects/qbittorrent/files/qbittorrent-appimage/qbittorrent-5.0.4/qbittorrent-5.0.4_x86_64.AppImage.asc/download

now it points to the .asc file

this is what happens when portable aps are hosted o non standard sites

edit the AM-updater script by replacing the line starting with version= like this

version=$(curl -Ls https://sourceforge.net/p/qbittorrent/activity/feed | grep -Eo "(http|https)://[a-zA-Z0-9./?=_%:-]*" | grep -i "appimage/download$" | grep -v '%' | head -1)

then run am -u qbittorrent

Just fixed

Image

...also remove the .am-installer/qbittorrent file if you don't want to be notifed that the script is changed (non to reinstall the app)

btw the qbittorrent-enhanced AppImage is much better, the appimage maintaner put a lot of love into it, it is much smaller and it correctly follows the system theme.

Modifying AM-updater and am -u didn't fix qbittorrent for me, but am -r qbittorrent then am -i qbittorrent did work.

I also am -i qbittorrent-enhanced but it doesn't work for me.

From the terminal:

$ qbittorrent-enhanced
qt.qpa.plugin: From 6.5.0, xcb-cursor0 or libxcb-cursor0 is needed to load the Qt xcb platform plugin.
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: minimal, offscreen, wayland-egl, wayland, xcb.

Aborted (core dumped)

I know, I just wanted to suggest, if you didn't want to reinstall

I also am -i qbittorrent-enhanced but it doesn't work for me.

From the terminal:

Aborted (core dumped)

in that case, you might want to report the problem, run -a to see the source
