New Term - fundingBodyID #534
Comments
Examples would be best separated by ( | ) instead of semicolons. |
Thank you for the feedback. I would separate the fundingBodyIDs with a "|" when there are several for one occurrence. The examples are meant to show different fundingBodyIDs for different occurrences; hence, the semicolons. I have updated the examples with one case of two fundingBodyIDs to make this clearer. |
Does the third example add anything? Can we safely omit it? |
Since a list is suitable as a value for this term, the definition should use a pattern consistent with similar terms already in Darwin Core. For example, recordedByID is defined as "A list (concatenated and separated) of the globally unique identifiers for the person, people, groups, or organizations responsible for recording the original dwc:Occurrence." Using that as a model, I would recommend that the definition of fundingBodyID be changed to, "A list (concatenated and separated) of the globally unique identifiers for the funding organizations or agencies that supported the project." |
The third example can be safely omitted. |
I agree with your definition of fundingBodyID and changed it accordingly. |
Maybe it would be useful to have example other then just ROR IDs to make it more apparent that it is not limited to this authority. There seem to be some other IDs out there, here an example of a funder that also has other ID (while also having a ROR) : https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q13102615 |
Examples updated as suggested. |
@tucotuco We are wondering if for the sake of consistency we should change the name of this element to fundingAttributionID, or if it is ok to keep it as fundingBodyID? |
@EstebanMH-SiB What consistency would the change of the name to fundingAttributionID provide? |
With other terms the ID field has the same name + "ID" at the end, as identifiedBy/identifiedByID, nameAccordingTo/nameAccordingToID, etc. We know that it does not apply to every pair of terms, but giving that these terms are related we just want to know if it will be better to have fundingAttribution/fundingAttributionID or if there is no need |
Ah, yes, I see. The consistency would be between this proposal and the one for fundingAttribution. Yes, consistency is definitely useful. So, fundingAttribution/fundingAttributionID or fundingBody/fundingBodyID, or, being even more consistent with other Darwin Core terms, fundedBy/fundedByID. |
I think the argument for using fundingAttribution was that the term already exists in the Audiovisual Core. It would make sense to use fundingAttributionID. FundingBody/fundingBodyID works for me as well and might be a little more intuitive? |
