It won’t play MKV files for more than a few seconds. MKVs play fine using the app infuse. I read online that vlc wont play MKV on the Apple TV due to lack of hardware encoding and am wondering if this is true for swiftfin as well since I think it uses vlc on the backend.

Is there a way I can get the file that is not playing? Again, the fact that it's an MKV file is not the issue so it may be something with the file itself or your server. We most likely will not be able to fix this as this deals with video playback with VLCKit, which we do not control. Or, it can be an issue that will be fixed when we improve our device builder if applicable.
I have an Apple TV HD with tvOS 15.5.1
