The plan here is to make a bug fix release, either we can call it as 1.2.1 or 1.3.0. Any preference?

I would stick semver as the defined in the releases.md file, IOW move this to 1.2.1 not 1.3.0.

I would prefer the following format.

VERSION.RELEASE.BUGFIX

Where VERSION.RELEASE should follow the CSI standard's current specification version as much as possible. That makes it easy to understand the capabilities of each release.
